Easy and Delicious Homemade White Bread

This recipe came about after we moved too far away to make it worth a trip to Great Harvest for their delicious white bread. This bread is simple enough for anyone to make and consists of ingredients you are likely to have on hand.

1 Cup Milk

1 1/2 Cups Hot Water

2 Tbs. Oil or Butter

2 tsp. Salt

4 Tbs. Brown Sugar

6 Cups Flour

1 1/2 Tbs. Yeast

Directions

Place all ingredients in a stand mixer bowl in the order listed. Make a small well in the flour and place the yeast therein.

Mix in the stand mixer using your dough hook, until the dough is combined and forms a large smooth ball. Usually, speeds 1 or 2 work well for dough.

Divide the dough in half and form it into two loaves.

Spray bread pans with a thin layer of cooking spray.

Place the dough in the bread pans, then cover it with a clean towel and place it in a warm kitchen area, such as the back of your stove.

Set your oven to bake at 350 degrees.

Let the dough rise as your oven heats, for 30 minutes, or until the dough has doubled in size.

Bake for 20-30 minutes, until the top of the bread, becomes golden brown.

Remove the bread from the oven. Apply a thin layer of butter to the top of the bread if desired.

Let the loaves rest for 10 minutes before removing them from the pan.

Slice and enjoy. Delicious with butter and jam or cinnamon and sugar.
